Robert Montgomery was exactly what a multi-faceted actor should be. He was an extraordinary actor-on screen and in theater- with a skill for both writing, directing and producing. Not only did he involve himself entirely with the work he did, but he also put in work for the US Navy during WWII.
After WWII he came back to acting and allowed both his talent and personality to live on in movie cinema history. He left acting more comfortable behind the camera rather than in front of it.
His legacy of acting not only lived on in the movies he left his mark on but also with the fame of his daughter Elizabeth Montgomery.
Among other things he was considered one of the best dressed men in Hollywood (he never carried a wallet seeing as it would ruin the drapery of his suits.) And had his own show for ten years, Robert Montgomery presents, and he was on the board of directors for a few companies. He was nominated fr two Oscars, won a Tony, and was also nominated for an Emmy.
He died in 1981 leaving behind a legend of roles in many films alongside MGM's leading ladies. He was a man of many talents and will be remembered for each one of them.
