Laurence Olivier was one of the greatest actors of all time. He possessed such elegance and sophistication on the screen. He also had the ability to display the raw emotion of complex characters. He showed that ability when he played Heathcliff in the 1939 film Wuthering Heights.
And I especially loved him in the 1940 film Rebecca where he played the quiet, sophisticated, handsome and almost mysterious Maxim De Winter. Olivier brought such life to the character. I was convinced that he had come to life from the pages of the novel. Even now, almost seventy years since the film's release, I am still mesmerized by his portrayal of the character. Laurence Olivier shall always be remembered as one of the greatest actors to have ever graced the silver screen.
